Welcome to the spectacular Okanagan Valley, the interior plateau of beautiful British Columbia. This picturesque area has transformed from a quiet farming region into a sophisticated holiday destination and year-round retreat.
There are numerous reasons to visit the area, which stretches from Salmon Arm in the north to Osoyoos in the southern desert and west to the Similkameen Valley. Lakes fringed by mountains of pine forest, sage bush, alpine grasses and vineyards abound. Orchards line the lakeside roads and the hillside benches. The climate is dry and in summer enticingly hot. Flowers and wildlife are in abundance.
The area produces a variety of fruits (peaches, pears, apples, cherries, apricots, plums), vegetables and herbs which are readily available at local orchards, roadside stands numbering in the hundreds and at seasonal farmer’s markets. This wealth of fresh grown produce lends the perfect backdrop for the growing number of wineries, cideries, breweries and distilleries that have sprung up in the region. There are over 100 Okanagan wineries and most can be visited for tastings.
Here in the Okanagan you can experience wonderful farm to table restaurants, beaches, festivals, history, culture, wildlife parks, golf, water and winter sports and Canada’s only desert. The Okanagan has it all. For more tourist information please visit our LINKS page.
